Description
Longwalls is a building that originally consisted of two houses but is now a single dwelling. It dates back to the 17th century, having been burned in 1721 and subsequently rebuilt in 1725. The structure is made of regularly coursed ironstone rubble and features a stone slate roof laid in diminishing courses, with ashlar stone ridge stacks.
The building has a four-unit plan and stands two storeys plus an attic, with a total of five windows. There are two entrances; the left part has a panelled and glazed door set within an open pedimented doorcase, flanked by a tall three-light wood mullioned and transomed window that includes metal casements and wrought-iron casement fasteners. The ground floor windows have stone flat arches. On the first floor, there are two three-light casements and one single-light casement, all with similar details to the ground floor windows. Additionally, there are two hipped roof dormers with wood casements.
The right part of the building features an entrance on the left that has a 20th-century porch and a plank door with a wood lintel. It also has two tall two-light casements with wood lintels. On the first floor, there are two three-light tall windows with small opening casements, also featuring stone flat arches.
