Description
Amber Thatch is a house located in Shenington, dating from the late 17th century, with extensive alterations made in the 20th century. The building is constructed from squared, coursed ironstone rubble and features an artificial stone slate roof with a stone end stack. Originally designed with a two-unit plan, it has been extended to create a three-unit plan and stands three storeys high with a three-window range across two levels. The front of the house has three 20th-century doors, each with stone flat arches, and the windows have been renewed in the original openings, also featuring stone flat arches or wood lintels. At the rear, there is a two-storey staircase projection with a sloping roof. It is said to contain two inglenooks, beams, and the original wooden staircase, although the interior has not been inspected.
