Description

SHENINGTON WITH ALKERTON THE GREEN SP 3642-3742 (North-west side) Shenington 7/100 Village shop and Bell View GV II 2 houses now shop and house. C17 origins with roof raised in C18. Uncoursed ironstone and squared coursed ironstone. C20-tile roof. Stone ridge and end stacks. 3-unit plan. 2 storeys plus attic. 4-window range. 2 entrances have C20 doors and wood lintels. C20 rustic porch on right with hipped C20 tile roof. Each entrance is flanked by C20 two-light metal windows with stone flat arches. First floor has four 2-light similar windows with stone flat arches. Four large gabled C20 roof dormers. Rear has a gabled 2-storey staircase projection. House on right has stop-chamfered beam, inglenook fireplace with chamfered bressumer and wooden spiral staircase with newel post of single piece of wood approx. 28 feet in length. Said to have been thatched with stone slates beneath the thatch.
