Description

The water trough on The Plain in Goudhurst is a Grade II listed structure dating from 1910. It is made of pink granite and features a projecting columned base. The trough has cable-moulded insets at the corners, with the left side designed as a horse trough and the right end serving as a drinking fountain. There is a simple, chamfered pedestal for the water supply to the right, although the moulded cup is missing its finial. The trough is inscribed to Ellis and Adelaide Franklin and is included for its group value.
