Description
The water trough, dated 1901, is a very wide circular stone structure with a moulded design and a base for holding water. It features a central barley sugar column topped with a Corinthian capital. The trough has a lion's head water spout that now faces north. Inscribed on the outer rim is a dedication: "This fountain is given by Gertrude Countess of Pembroke in memory of happy days in Wilton trusting that it will be a comfort to all passers by and thirsty animals A.D. 1901."
