Description

This is a cattle trough from the late 19th century located in Barnet. It is made of granite and has a rectangular shape with a chamfered base, supported by granite slab foundations. At each end, there is a granite domed spur stone. Beneath the main trough, there is a rectangular dog trough set between granite kerbs at ground level. One side of the trough features an inscription that reads: "Metropolitan Drinking Fountain and Cattle Trough Association." The opposite side bears another inscription that commemorates John White, a surgeon from the parish who died in 1868, and his wife Emily, who passed away in 1891.
