Description
The tombstone to Sarah Gee, dating from around 1738, is located in St Mary-at-Finchley Churchyard. It is made of Portland stone and features a segmental pedimental top adorned with a relief of a skull, palm fronds, an hour-glass, and a tail-biting snake, all positioned between scrolled consoles. The inscription is framed by Corinthian pilasters. The epitaph reads: 'Afflictions sore long time I bore/Physicians were in vaine/Till Death gave Ease and God did please/ To end my Griefe and Paine.'
