Description

This is a tombstone dating from 1741, located approximately 2 metres to the west of the tower of the Church of St Mary's in Pateley Bridge. The tombstone is made of stone and features a shaped top with fluted Doric pilasters on each side. At the bottom, there is a stone skull and crossbones with wings, along with an hourglass above, and an inscription around this motif that reads "Memento: Mori am Tempus leogit". Above this is a rectangular frame that contains a bronze tablet inscribed "To the memory of Thomas the Son of Thomas Green Died 1741 ...". At the very top, there is an anthemion motif with a rose above it.
