Description
41 and 43 High Street are two shops located in Pateley Bridge, dating from the early 19th century with some minor later alterations. The building is constructed of ashlar stone and has a slate roof. It stands three storeys high and features four bays, with the left-hand bay forming a semicircular corner.
To the right of the left-hand bay, there is a 19th-century shop front that includes a recessed central half-glazed door, pilaster windows, and consoles that support a frieze and cornice. The left side has a curved 20-pane window with a fanlight above, while the right side features a bowed window with glazing bars and a half-glazed door with an overlight. Further to the right, there are two four-pane sash windows with stone sills.
On the first floor, the left-hand bay has a curved 20-pane window, and to the right is a mid-19th-century canted bay window with sashes, a frieze, and a cornice. The other windows on this floor are all sashes with glazing bars and stone sills, except for the second-floor window on the left, which is a curved 15-pane window. The roof has a hipped shape to the left and includes an end stack to the right and a ridge stack. This building is included for its group value only.
