Description
No 13 and No 15, known as Kings House, is a house with two commercial premises located on the north side of High Street in Pateley Bridge. It dates from the mid-18th century and has undergone alterations in the mid-19th century. The building is constructed of coursed squared stone and ashlar, topped with a graduated stone slate roof. It stands three storeys high and features five bays with quoins.
On the ground floor, to the left of the right-hand bay, there is a four-panel door with an overlight, set within a pilastered doorcase that includes consoles, a frieze, and a cornice. To the left bay, there is a carriage entrance with a segmental arch made of voussoirs. The right side features a 20th-century shop front with a glazed door set back to the left. The central and right-hand bays have pilastered canted bay windows with sash windows, along with a frieze and cornices.
On the first floor, above the main doorcase, there is a four-pane sash window in a stone moulded eared architrave, complete with a frieze and cornice. The left bay contains a four-pane sash window in a plain stone surround, while the other bays have canted bays similar to those on the ground floor. The second floor has five four-pane sash windows in plain stone surrounds. The building is finished with shaped kneelers, stone coping, and end stacks.
