Description
No. 8 and No. 10 Market Place is a single house that was formerly a house and shop, built in the early 19th century with a late 19th century shop front. The building is constructed of whitewashed brick and has a pantile roof, featuring two gable and one ridge red brick stacks. It has dentil eaves and stands two storeys tall with five bays.
On the first floor, there is a band that runs across the left two bays. The main entrance is accessed by three steps leading up to a panelled door with an overlight. On either side of the doorway are single sash windows with margin lights. All openings have flush wedge lintels and painted keystones.
To the right of the entrance is the former shop, which has a doorway with a panelled door and overlight, flanked by single pilasters. Next to this are two sash windows divided by a smaller pilaster and flanked by larger pilasters. These pilasters support an entablature with a moulded cornice. Above, there are three sash windows with margin lights alternating with two blind recessed panels, all featuring flush wedge lintels and painted keystones. At the rear of the building, there are two-storey wings.
