Description

This is a house, now divided into three shops, dating primarily from the 17th century with alterations in the 18th century and later. It is constructed of coursed squared stone, with ashlar detailing, and has a graduated stone slate roof. The building is two storeys and five bays wide, with quoins. A flight of six steps leads to a half-glazed door set within a 17th-century chamfered stone surround, featuring a basket-arched lintel; a basement window sits beneath the steps. To the right of the entrance is a 20th-century bay window, and further along, a 20-pane 20th-century casement window. Another set of three steps leads to a board door within a plain stone surround, with a 12-pane sash window in a plain stone surround to its right. To the far right of the facade are a half-glazed door in a plain stone surround and an early 20th-century shop window with pilasters, frieze, and cornice. The first floor has four sash windows with glazing bays in plain stone surrounds, except for the central two-light chamfered mullion window. The building features shaped kneelers, stone capping, an end stack to the left, and a large ridge stack.
