This is a tombstone located approximately 2 metres southeast of the chancel of St Mary's Church in Pateley Bridge. It dates from 1714 and is made of stone. The tombstone features an octagonal shaft resting on an octagonal plinth, with a squared band at the top. The lettering on the shaft, which reads "Mr Purse 1714," is well-crafted but has become worn over time.
