Description

Cross Lane House is a 17th-century house located in High and Low Bishopside Knott. It is constructed of coursed squared stone, with ashlar detailing and a graduated stone slate roof. The house is two storeys high and has four bays. It follows a lobby-entry plan. Quoins are present. A board door, within a chamfered stone surround and a 4-centred-arched lintel, is located to the right of the left-hand bay. To the left of the door is a double-chamfered 4-light mullioned window, and to its right is a similar window of 3 lights. A chamfered 1-light window is visible in the right-hand bay. The first floor contains a 3-light chamfered mullioned window to the left, a 1-light chamfered window to its right, and a 2-light chamfered mullioned window further to the right. An end stack is located to the right, and another is on the ridge. Internally, there is a large inglenook fireplace.
