Description
This barn, located on the west side of the farmyard at the farmstead, dates from around 1870 and was built for the Yorke family of Bewerley Hall. It is constructed of deeply-coursed dressed sandstone and features a graduated Welsh slate roof. The barn is tall and single-storey, with approximately three bays.
On the south side, there is a large sliding door set in a rebate beneath a massive stone lintel, with a slatted casement to the right. Above the door, there are slit vents and a square hatch. The roof is hipped. The opposite end of the barn has three rows of slit vents and a boarded hatch. Additionally, there is a small doorway on the east side, which is now within a later milking shed. The barn is included for its group value as part of the planned home farm that formerly served Bewerley Hall.
