Description
GOUDHURST THE PLAIN TQ 7237-7337 (east side) 15/239 Goudhurst Butchers, house attached and rear courtyard GV II House and shop. C17 or earlier, front early Cl9 altered mid C20. Red and blue chequered brick on ground floor, tile hung 1st floor and slate roof. Two storeys on dressed sandstone plinth, with hipped roof and stacks to right and to rear right. Three glazing bar sashes on 1st floor, and 2 on ground floor, with panelled door to centre right, at head of 5 steps, with moulded cornice hood. Projecting mid C20 shop front to left, single storey with flat roof, with tiled frontage, plate glass windows, and tiled interior with glazed cash desk. Rear courtyard with brick wall projecting from house, about 7 feet high, ramped down to double boarded gates, with attached outhouse. Rear half-hipped and tile hung wing, C17 or earlier.
