Description

This is an early 19th-century house located on Effingham Street, Ramsgate. The building is rendered and stands three storeys high, with a rusticated base and a parapet. The front elevation features two cambered-headed glazing bar sashes on the second floor, and two tripartite metal casements, which act as French windows. Wooden brackets are present below where a balcony once stood. A large bow window extends across the left side of the ground floor, containing two glazing bar sashes. The main door is of raised and fielded panels, with reeded details, and is topped by a semi-circular fanlight within a keyed surround. A flight of five steps leads to the door, flanked by crescent-headed rails terminating in urn motifs. A boarded passageway door is present to the right, also within a keyed semi-circular surround. A large stair window is visible at the rear. The house was marked on Collard and Hursts' 1822 map, and further historical details may be found in listing number 13/110.
