Description
No. 34 with Area is a house dating from the late 18th century, located on Effingham Street in Ramsgate. It is built of peach-colored brick with red brick dressings and features four storeys plus a basement. The building has a moulded plinth and plat bands on each floor, topped with a parapet. Each floor has two glazing bar sash windows, which get progressively smaller towards the upper floor, all featuring gauged heads made of red brick. The basement includes a half-glazed door and a glazing bar sash window. The main door, located to the left and partially within the elevation of No. 32, consists of six moulded panels and has a metal traceried semi-circular fanlight. This door is framed by a fluted and moulded pilastered doorcase with an enriched entablature. There are simple rails surrounding the extensive basement area. For further historical context, see item 13/110.
