Description

This is an 18th-century house located on the east side of Effingham Street, Ramsgate. The exterior is of painted brick with a plain tiled roof. The building is two storeys high with an attic and basement, and features a parapet to the roof, with gables and stacks on the right and left sides. There is a tall, rendered and moulded stack at the rear right. Two flat-roofed dormers are visible. The original segmentally headed window openings on each floor contained glazing bar sash windows, though these have been replaced with top-hung casements. A half-glazed door is centrally located on the right side, set within a simple wooden surround. A half-hipped, weather-boarded 18th-century extension projects to the rear. Interior features, reportedly dating to the 17th century and earlier, are similar to those found at number 29 Effingham Street, and it's suggested that number 29 may have been added as a wing to this building (number 31).
