Description

No. 75 London Road is a house that dates from around 1780 to 1820, with later additions and alterations. It is constructed of red-orange brick and features a plain clay tile roof that is hipped to the left, with a plain brick eaves band. The building has a ridge stack and a rear gable-end stack, both with oversailing detail and pots. To the left, there is an annexe with a concealed roof and a parapet. The windows have timber sills, and there is a doorcase.

The house has a single-depth plan, oriented with its gable end facing London Road. Inside, there is an entrance lobby and staircase located in the annexe. The main house is three storeys tall. On the first floor, there is a 4/4 window (with three vertical glazing bars only) in a near-flush frame, set under a cambered brick arch. The second-floor window is similar but shorter, and both windows have horns. The ground floor features a ten-pane French window with a three-pane overlight, which has been altered, and is topped by a flat gauged brick arch. The annexe, which adjoins No. 73 London Road, is two storeys high. It has a first-floor 2/2 window with horns in a near-flush frame under a segmental arch, and a similar window on the ground floor under a flat gauged brick arch. To the left of the window, there is pedestrian access to the rear through a semi-circular arched open doorway. To the right of the window, there is a raised and fielded six-panel door with a wide architrave and a simple bracketed canopy. At the rear, there is a two-storey outshut. The interior has not been inspected.
