Description
This is a legal chambers and shop dating to around 1840. The building is constructed of stock brick, with some areas rendered. It has three storeys and a basement, and features a horizontally rusticated base, a cill band, and a parapet. It occupies George Street and Cavendish Street.
The left-hand side facing Cavendish Street has two windows on the second and first floors, with glazing bar sashes and segmental heads. The right-hand window spaces on Cavendish Street are blank. The section facing George Street has three windows across the front. A curved corner section is slightly recessed and incorporates a larger curved glazing bar sash on the second and first floors. The ground floor fronts have two tripartite sashes, a plate glass bow window, and a glazed door with a rectangular fanlight to the right, which marks the end of No. 2 George Street. A double-panelled door with a rectangular fanlight and two steps is on the corner section, leading to half-glazed inner doors. Two basement sashes are on the left, and a rendered wall with a boarded door leads to the back yard. This description includes No. 2 George Street.
