Description
40 St Augustine's Gate is a mid-19th century building that includes No 2 George Street. It is constructed of brown brick and features a hipped slate roof. The building has two storeys and a bracketed eaves cornice. On St Augustine's Gate, there are two sash windows, and on George Street, there are four sash windows, all with glazing bars and moulded stucco heads. The shop front has four pilasters supporting a fascia and moulded cornice, with a central door that has two moulded panels. The George Street elevation includes one shop window, also with pilasters supporting a fascia and moulded cornice, glazing bars, and a door with four moulded panels and an oblong fanlight, set in a Tuscan doorcase. The building has a rounded corner.
