Description

This is a terrace house dating from 1798 to 1801, with later alterations in the 19th century. It is constructed of rendered and painted brick with a slate roof. The house has four storeys and a basement. The ground floor is rusticated, with rusticated quoins, a plat band above the second floor, and a cornice above the third. The third floor features doubled end pilasters, and a rendered pilastered centre piece. A bracketed frieze sits above a cornice leading to a swept parapet with four piers. The third-floor windows are sashes with moulded and keyed surrounds; the inner sashes are narrower than the outer. The second floor has two sashes with moulded and gauged surrounds, along with a central tripartite sash. The first floor has two sashes, and a glazed central door with a glazed verandah, originally designed to match Nos. 4 and 5 Nelson Crescent with an elliptical arcade. The ground floor has two sashes, and a panelled door to the right, featuring a rectangular fanlight and sidelights leading up a flight of five steps with moulded marble treads. The basement has two sashes with vertical glazing bars. Spearhead rails with acorn-finial principals enclose the front area.
