Description

No. 3 and its railed area is a terrace house, dating from 1798 to 1801, and now used as flats. The house is built of brick, but is entirely rendered and pebble-dashed, with a slate roof. It is four storeys high, with a basement. The ground floor is rusticated, and there is a parapet, cornice, and central stack to the roof. The second and third floors each feature three sashes, with the top section of each retaining its original glazing bars. The first floor has three full-height sashes, accompanied by a late 19th-century verandah constructed of three large wooden sashes, the upper sections incorporating stained glass. The ground floor has two keyed sashes with bracketed sills. A half-glazed and panelled door, with a semi-circular fanlight, pilaster surround, and cornice, leads to a flight of five steps. A large sash and a secondary sash with a half-glazed door are located in the basement, also accessed by steps. Spear-head rails and baluster finials are present on the principals. This property possesses group value from its contribution to the architectural character of the area.
