Description
No. 2 is a terrace house built between 1798 and 1801, located on Nelson Crescent in Ramsgate. It is constructed of white stock brick, with some areas rendered, and features a slate roof. The building has four storeys and a basement, with a rusticated ground floor and moulded cornices on the second and third floors. The top floor is exposed brick. A moulded parapet with a cornice crowns the double pitch roof, which has a stack on the left side.
On the second and third floors, there are two glazing bar sash windows with moulded surrounds and cornices on the second floor. The first floor has two glazed doors leading to a verandah supported by pierced cast iron piers, featuring panelled wrought iron balustrading and valancing on simple iron brackets. The ground floor includes a keyed tripartite sash window and a multi-panelled door to the right, which is topped by a semi-circular fanlight and surrounded by pilasters and a cornice. This entrance is accessed by a flight of four steps, with spear-head railings and acorn-finial principals.
