Description
No. 8 is a terrace house, now functioning as a hotel, built between 1798 and 1801. It is constructed of white stock brick, partly rendered, and features a slate roof. The building has four storeys with a basement, showcasing a rusticated ground floor and a parapet at the roof with a central stack. On the second and third floors, there are three sashes with gauged heads. The first floor has three full-height sashes and includes a three-bay elliptical arcaded verandah supported by wooden brackets, which is adorned with a wrought balustrade. The ground floor features two sashes and a half-glazed door to the right, which is topped by a semi-circular fanlight set within a pilaster and cornice surround, leading up a flight of five steps. Additionally, there is a large plate glass window and a glazed door at the basement level, along with urn-finial rails.
