Description
No. 5 is a terrace house, now divided into flats, built between 1798 and 1801. It is constructed of white stock brick, with the lower floors rendered. The building stands four storeys high with a basement, featuring a rusticated ground floor and a cornice at the roof with a central stack. On the second and third floors, there are three sash windows with moulded and bracketed surrounds. The first floor has two full-height sashes flanking a central glazed door, and it is adorned with a three-bay elliptically arcaded verandah supported by doubled piers and a simple wooden balustrade. The ground floor includes two keyed sashes and a door to the right, which consists of six raised and fielded panels topped with a semi-circular fanlight. This door is framed by a surround with attached Doric columns and an entablature above, leading up five moulded marble steps and featuring an attached hood box. The basement has a large plate glass window and a half-glazed outer door. The property is enclosed by railings with crescent finials.
