Description

No. 1 Nelson Crescent is a terrace house dating from 1798 to 1801. It is constructed of white stock brick with channelled render, and has a slate roof. The house is four storeys high with a basement, and features string courses at the second and third floor levels, topped by a parapet to a double-pitched roof with stacks to the left. There are two sash windows on each of the second and third floors. The first floor has two French windows, which are sheltered by a tented verandah with a wooden balustrade supported by piers and ornamental iron brackets. The ground floor features a tripartite sash window, and a door to the right, consisting of six raised and fielded panels, a semi-circular fanlight, and a pilastered surround above a flight of four steps. A tripartite sash is present at basement level. To the right of the house is a rendered wall with a pier, and spearhead railings define the railed area along the road front.
