Description
Sorrel Cottage, located to the east of Vexour Farmhouse, is a timber-framed cottage that dates back to the 16th century or earlier. The building is two stories high and features two windows. It has a high-pitched tiled roof, with a small subsidiary roof ridge on the left that leads to a massive chimney stack, which rises through a lean-to extension and is partly rendered. The first floor is tile hung, while the ground floor is rendered. The cottage has 19th-century casement windows and a plank door set in a stout frame within a later gabled open porch, where visible timber framing can be seen behind. Inside, there is much exposed timber, including uprights and stout diagonal braces, and an inglenook that is partly filled.
