Description
The rustic seat, built between 1810 and 1830 by William Wells, is located in the grounds of Redwood. This timber-framed structure has five sides forming an octagon, with five rustic poles connected by weatherboarding on a brick plinth. The exterior is covered in heather, and the roof is thatched, featuring a wooden carved finial topped with a 20th-century metal weathervane. Inside, there is a slatted seat with scalloped edges and brick pairing. This seat is one of several garden features on the former Redleaf estate, which is listed on the English Heritage Register of Historic Parks and Gardens for Kent.
