Description
Leppingwells is a cottage that dates back to the 16th century or earlier, with later alterations and additions. It features a timber frame with painted brick facing at the front and a plastered rear. The cottage has a red tiled roof and two red brick external chimney stacks, one on the left and one at the right ridge. It is a single storey building with attics and has a two-window range of casement windows. There is a 20th-century flat roof porch on the right, which includes a plank and muntin door. The roof is constructed with side purlins. Historical records indicate that the property was owned by the Leffingwell family of Earls Colne around 1468.
