Description
Hurrells Farmhouse is a house that dates back to the 16th century or earlier, with a late 18th-century wing added to the south. The building is timber framed and plastered, topped with grey slate roofs. The southern range has two storeys, while the northern range has one storey and an attic. There are two red brick chimney stacks. The 18th-century range features projecting eaves and a three-window arrangement of small paned vertically sliding sashes with moulded surrounds. The central entrance has a two-panel door with two lights, flanked by pilasters with capitals and topped with an open pediment. The northern range includes one catslide dormer and a small paned sliding sash window. At the rear, there is an attached bake oven. The northern range's frame consists of two bays with a heavy chamfered tie beam and bridging joist, showcasing good quality close studding. The 18th-century details include doors with ironmongery and a hall archway. Documentary evidence indicates the building's history dates back to around 1486.
