Description
Little London Cottage and Saddlery Stores is a pair of houses and a shop dating from the 18th century, with some alterations made in the 19th century. The building is timber framed and weatherboarded, topped with a plain tile roof. It has two storeys and an attic, set on a painted brick plinth, and features a gabled design. There is a gable end stack to the left and a rear stack to the left of centre. The roof includes two small hipped dormers with two lights each. The windows are arranged irregularly, with three sashes: two 4-pane sashes for the Saddlery Stores and one 12-pane sash for Little London Cottage. The ground floor has three canted bay windows, two of which have leaded roofs.
Access to the Saddlery Stores is through a panelled door located under a flat bracketed hood, positioned between the left and central windows. There is also a half-glazed door with a row of ventilation holes above it, which has a flat bracketed hood and is located at the right end of the stores. Little London Cottage has a panelled door with reeded architrave and paterae, situated between the right and central windows. A plain-tile pentice extends across the door and bay window of the Cottage. There is a short rear wing, but the interior has not been inspected. The building was formerly known as C.R. Wood Sadler, and the adjoining house to the north was occupied by someone named Fletcher. This property is included for its group value.
