Description
This is a row of three houses, possibly originally an inn, dating to the mid-16th century and restored in the early 20th century. The building is timber-framed with rendered infilling, and has a plain tile roof. There are approximately 8 timber-framed bays, incorporating 2 stack bays. The structure is two storeys high with cellars. A brick plinth is present, with a stone base at the left end. The framing is close-studded. A continuous jetty runs along the front, supported by a moulded bressumer with moulded solid-spandrel brackets. A mid-height rail divides the first floor, interrupted by principal posts and studs flanking windows. The roof is half-hipped to the left with a gablet; to the right, it is hipped with a gablet extending down to a lower ridge over the right end of the main range and over the carriage entrance. Brick ridge stacks are visible on the second and sixth timber-framed bays from the left, with a rear brick stack between them and another at the right end. The window openings contain 6 leaded, 3-light wood mullion casements. There are 3 ribbed doors with 4-centred-arched heads, each leading up a flight of stone steps and featuring a small grilled Judas. An arch-braced carriage entrance is located at the right end of the building. The interior has not been inspected.
