Description

Wimborne Cottage is a house, formerly a house and shop, dating from the 16th century or earlier, with alterations from the 17th, 19th, and 20th centuries. The building is timber framed, with a red brick ground floor and a weatherboarded first floor, topped by a plain tile roof. It consists of approximately three timber-framed bays, likely extending further to the left, and is two storeys high. The gabled structure features slightly projecting wall-plate ends and verges. The left gable end has an arch-braced tie-beam and a plain crown-post supported by one foot brace. A collar purlin continues to the collar between the projecting verges. There is a multiple brick ridge stack located to the left of centre. The windows are irregularly arranged, with four casements, some of which are leaded; there are three 3-light casements and one 2-light casement under the stack. A ribbed door is positioned up two steps under the stack. There is also a rear lean-to. The interior has not been inspected.
