Description

This is a house and shop, likely originating in the 16th century or earlier, and substantially refaced in the late 19th century. The building is timber-framed with weatherboarding over a brick plinth, and has a tiled roof. It is two storeys high with four windows. A projecting gable is on the left side, and a parallel range is on the right. The left side features a two-storey canted bay with vertical glazing bars and a single sash window. The right side includes casement windows and a later 19th-century shopfront. A recessed 20th-century door is set beneath a round-headed arch supported by engaged columns. The side elevation is clad in red brick and includes an end chimneystack built with 2-inch brickwork. On the ground floor, exposed timber framing is visible, featuring square section joists and mortices indicative of former windows and a shutter groove. A 19th-century staircase is present. The first floor showcases exposed framing with curved braces.
