Description
Drey Cottages is a pair of houses dating from the 18th century or earlier, located on the west side of Staplehurst High Street. The ground floor is constructed of painted brick, while the first floor is weatherboarded, topped with a plain tile roof. The buildings are two low storeys with attics and feature gabled roofs. A brick stack is positioned on the front slope of the roof to the left of the center. There is a small two-light dormer with a lean-to roof and irregular fenestration that includes two small two-light wooden casements. On the left side of the ground floor, there is a canted bay window, and to the right, a three-light casement. The entrances are panelled doors located at the left and towards the right end, both adorned with flat bracketed hoods. A rear lean-to is also present. The interior has not been inspected. The cottages were formerly known as Cosy Nook and Fir Tree Cottage.
