Description

Greenway Forstal Farmhouse is a late 16th or early 17th century timber-framed farmhouse located in Harrietsham. The building originally stood as Greenway Forstal, before being renamed. It has a plain tile roof and approximately four timber-framed bays, arranged with a lobby-entry plan in the third bay from the right. The farmhouse stands on a plinth and features a continuous jetty. The left bay on the ground floor has close studding, while the remaining bays exhibit broadly-spaced studding with tension braces. The steeply pitched roof is hipped on the right side. The attic is jettied to the left, supported by moulded brackets, with a half-hipped shape above and moulded bargeboards with pendants. A corbelled red brick ridge stack sits within the third bay from the right, while a smaller mid-19th century chequered red and grey brick stack projects from the right end. There is one rear dormer window. The fenestration is irregular, with four casement windows. A two-storey close-studded porch-cum-stair turret sits beneath the stack, featuring a coved jettied gable on carved brackets. A boarded door, likely original and set within a moulded architrave, is located on the right side of the porch gable end. A later rendered rear lean-to has been added to the right side. The interior has not been inspected.
