Description

Little Benover is a farmhouse, now a house, dating from the late 16th century or early 17th century. It is timber framed with rendered infilling, and the first floor of the left gable end is tile-hung. The roof is covered with plain tiles. The building consists of approximately three timber-framed bays, with the left end bay being shorter and possibly a later addition. There is an integral rear return wing to the right. The structure is two storeys high, featuring a brick plinth on the left end bay and a stone plinth on the rest of the building.

The farmhouse has a continuous jetty that returns to the right on a moulded dragon post. The studding is broadly spaced, with two ogee tension braces in the central bay and one in the right end bay. The roof is half-hipped, with a brick stack on the front slope of the roof to the left end of the central bay and a projecting brick stack at the right gable end.

The windows display irregular fenestration with three leaded casements: one two-light in the left end bay, another in the centre, and one four-light in the right end bay. The entrance features a ribbed door with one moulded jamb and a moulded four-centred arched head with carved spandrels, located to the right end of the central bay. The rear right return wing has a jetty along its long right side, continuing from the main range, with one arch-braced panel towards the main range and the rest of the right side weatherboarded. The roof of the rear wing is also half-hipped, and there is a rear lean-to attached to the rest of the main range. The interior has not been inspected.
