Description
Quinnels is a house dating from the 17th century, with alterations from the 19th and 20th centuries. It features a timber-framed structure, with the ground floor made of red brick in Flemish bond and the first floor weatherboarded. The roof is covered with plain tiles and has a lobby-entry plan, consisting of one bay to the left and two bays to the right of the stack bay. The building has two storeys and a garret, with a half-hipped roof that includes gablets. A multiple red and grey brick ridge stack is positioned to the left of the centre. The fenestration is irregular, comprising three three-light casements and one very small light located under the stack. There is a half-glazed door also situated under the stack.
To the left, there is a short two-storey rear wing, which has a red and grey brick ground floor, a 20th-century weatherboarded first floor, and a half-hipped plain-tile roof at the rear. The main range has a rear lean-to. The interior has only been partially inspected, but it reveals exposed framing on the ground floor, with signs of a continuous jetty and evidence of stairs that are no longer present, located between the door and the stack. The interior also features chamfered axial beams and a brick fireplace. The building was incorrectly referred to as Roslyn Villa and Normans Villa in the 1960 Provisional List.
