Description

The Chestnut Tree is an 18th-century house, originally a public house. It is timber framed and the front is clad with blackened weatherboarding, while the right gable end is tile-hung. The roof is tiled. The building faces south and is set at a right angle to the road. It is two storeys high with a garret. It has projecting brick gable-end stacks. The window arrangement is irregular, with two three-light wooden casements. There is a low single-storey addition to the left gable end, and a rear lean-to. A single-storey pebbledashed addition faces the road and extends from the right gable end; it has a hipped tile roof, a gable end stack, two sash windows, a central half-glazed door, and a blocked doorway towards its right end. The interior has not been inspected. The building is included on the list for its group value.
