Description
Hill Green Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the late 16th century or early 17th century, with a slightly later rear wing. The front elevation and left gable end have a painted brick ground floor, while the rest of the building is timber-framed with plaster infilling, topped with a plain tile roof. The layout follows a lobby entry plan, with one room on either side of the stack bay. The building is two storeys high, set on a flint and brick plinth, featuring a continuous jetty on the front elevation that extends along the left gable end, supported by a dragon post. The front elevation has close studding on the first floor, while the gable ends show broadly spaced studding with tension braces. The roof is hipped, with gablets at both ends, and there is a slightly off-centre brick ridge stack to the right. The front has a regular arrangement of two windows, each with 2-light casements, and a panelled door. The rear wing is recessed to the left, with a brick ground floor and broadly spaced studding with plaster infilling above. A two-storey rear turret, possibly a stair turret, projects near the angle with the main range, featuring a brick ground floor and a timber-framed first floor with a hipped plain tile roof.
