Description

Thatchers is a house that possibly dates back to the 16th century, with later alterations. It features a timber frame, with the ground floor rendered and exposed framing with rendered infilling on the first floor. The roof is thatched and the building consists of four timber-framed bays across two storeys. The two central bays have a higher midrail, and the first floor displays broadly-spaced close-studding, with one curved tension brace in each outer bay and one straight brace in the right-central bay. The roof is gabled, and there are projecting red and grey brick stacks, likely from the 18th century or later, at the gable ends. The windows are irregularly arranged, featuring three leaded casements: a four-light in the left bay, a two-light in the left-central bay, and a four-light spanning the two right bays, with thatch extending down to the cill level between them. There is a ribbed door located in the centre of the right-central bay, and rendered, thatched lean-tos are present at each end of the building. The interior has not been inspected.
