Description

Old Cottage is a house that likely dates back to the 16th century, with extensions added in the 18th century and some alterations made in the late 20th century. It features a timber frame with rendered infill set on a stone plinth, topped with a thatched roof. The building consists of two bays, with the northern bay originating from the 16th century and the southern bay from the 18th century, both having gable-end stacks. The house is one storey high with an attic, which is illuminated by an eyebrow dormer on the left side. On the ground floor, there are two 2-light casement windows and an entrance located in the left-hand corner. The framing includes an exposed cruck truss on the left-hand gable, while the wall frame is all from the 20th century. The 18th-century bay has framing composed of three square panels high, supported by straight tension braces.
