Description
The Old Forge is a house that was formerly associated with a forge, dating from the early 19th century. It is built of chequered red and grey brick and has a plain tile roof. The building has two storeys and attics, set on a galletted stone plinth. There is a plat band in English bond and a short length of dentilled plat band above the door. The eaves have flat soffits, and there are brick end stacks. The front features two hipped dormers and a regular arrangement of three windows, which are small recessed 12-pane glazing-bar sashes with thick glazing bars. There are two similar windows on the ground floor, with the left one being enlarged later. All windows have segmental heads. The central entrance is a recessed boarded door, also under a segmental head. At the rear, there is a lean-to. The interior has not been inspected.
