Description
Sandhurst is a house that dates from the early 19th century, with an 18th-century core and later additions from the 19th century. It was altered in the 1980s. The building has fragments of a timber-framed core. The front elevation is made of buff brick laid in Flemish bond, while the 19th-century rear addition on the right features red and grey brick in English bond on the ground floor, with tile-hanging above. There is a central rendered stair turret and a left rear addition made of red brick in Flemish bond. The roofs are covered with plain tiles, and the house has two storeys and a cellar. The front elevation has projecting eaves with flat soffits and gable end stacks. There are two dormers that were originally flat-roofed but have been changed to hipped roofs. The front has a regular three-window arrangement with corniced, recessed 12-pane sash windows. The ground floor windows feature rubbed brick voussoirs. The stair turret and left rear addition have small pointed-arched casements and horizontally-sliding sashes. A late 20th-century central brick porch has Doric columns, a flat corniced hood, and a recessed panelled door.
