Description

A watermill, dating from the late 18th or early 19th century, with a later 19th-century addition. The ground floor has a base of galletted stone, rising to varying heights, above which the exterior is of chequered red and grey brick. The upper floor is weatherboarded, and the roof is covered with plain tiles. The mill was constructed at a right angle to the road. A 19th-century addition extends to the rear, increasing the overall length by approximately one-third, and is set at a slight angle. The building is two storeys and has a garret, topped by a half-hipped roof. The south elevation has an irregular arrangement of three windows on the upper floor, featuring an 18-pane fixed light, a 6-pane fixed light, and a small 2-light casement. Two low, boarded doors are positioned above the water wheel. A large 19th-century water wheel is located at the front, towards the left end. The north elevation has boarded doors at both ground and first floor levels. The interior has not been inspected.
