Description
Water Lane Farmhouse is a farmhouse that dates back to the 16th century or earlier, with a 17th-century addition and a 19th-century facade. The building is timber framed, with the rear wing rendered and the front range clad in red brick in Flemish bond on the ground floor and tile-hung on the first floor. It has a plain tile roof. The front range, likely from the 17th century, is two storeys high with a garret, standing on a stone plinth. The left half of the facade jetties out, while the right half is underbuilt. The roof is half-hipped. The windows are irregularly arranged, featuring two casements—one with four lights and another with three lights—along with two three-light casements on the ground floor. There is a boarded door slightly off-centre to the right, sheltered by a flat bracketed hood. The rear wing, which is from the 16th century or earlier, is a single storey, possibly with a garret, and sits on a brick plinth. It has an aisle or lean-to along its long left side and a steeply pitched three-quarters-hipped roof, with a ridge stack towards the front range. The rear wing has irregular fenestration with two small casements and a boarded door leading to the main range. The interior has not been inspected.
