Description
This is an outbuilding located about 15 metres east of Little Mongeham House, likely originally built as a coach house and later used as a village school. It dates from the early 19th century and is constructed of buff brick with a slate roof. The building is a single storey and features a large gabled entrance front with kneelers. On either side of the central double rebated semi-circular headed recess, which has a blocked entry, there are two elliptical recesses. Above the recess is a wooden casement, and there are wooden casements on either side as well. The interior is plain and lacks decorative detail but remains structurally unaltered, featuring a trussed roof. This outbuilding is included for its group value with the main house. The stable courtyard that was originally attached to the coach house and main house has been extensively altered and rebuilt, making it no longer eligible for listing.
