Description

The Cottage is a small house and adjoining outbuilding, likely built in the early 19th century. It is constructed of brick with a peg-tile roof and brick stacks. The house, which may have originally included stabling, faces approximately east and has an L-shaped plan. The main block consists of two cells with a central entrance and a rear right wing. The left room of the main block is heated by an end stack, while the wing is also heated from an end stack. The coach-house is located at the right end of the house.

The exterior features a two-storey house and a single-storey outbuilding. The house has a gable-ended roof, while the coach-house has a hipped roof. The front elevation of the house is slightly asymmetrical with three bays, including a central 19th-century plank front door. The ground floor openings have crank-arched brick voussoirs, which are painted white. The left ground floor window is a 16-pane 19th-century sash, and the right window is larger with small panes and iron glazing bars. On the first floor, there are two 16-pane 19th-century sashes on the left and right, and a two-light casement window in the centre, which is either 19th or 20th century, set in a reduced embrasure that may have replaced a loft opening. The coach-house to the right features a pair of 20th-century full-height metal doors on the left and a small doorway with a cranked arch, brick voussoirs, and a plank door. The interior has not been inspected.
